QME has been providing specialist underground mining services at Saint-Gobain Gypsum’s Drummond Mine in County Monaghan, Ireland. The Drummond Mine forms part of Ireland’s only indigenous gypsum mining operation, supplying raw materials for plasterboard, plaster, cement and agricultural products throughout Ireland and export markets.

The Drummond Mine plays a critical role in supplying gypsum for the Irish construction industry. Through its ongoing partnership with Saint-Gobain Gypsum, QME continues to support the safe and efficient operation of one of Ireland’s most important underground industrial mineral mines.

By combining specialist ground support expertise, rehabilitation services and underground engineering capability, QME helps ensure the long-term sustainability and productivity of the operation. The Drummond underground mine, together with the adjacent Knocknacran operation, produces approximately 300,000 to 500,000 tonnes of gypsum annually, supplying the only indigenous source of gypsum on the island of Ireland.
