Project Overview
In September 2014, QME began development for the flagship project of Canadian mining company Dalradian Resources. The Curraghinalt Gold Project, which is located near Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland, will result in QME’s contracting division undertaking 52,000 tonne bulk sample incorporating more than 1 kilometre of development (haulage), as well as the refurbishment and extension of the existing tunnel. Throughout the project, QME provides ongoing support services in addition to underground development, which will include the maintenance of facilities, such as: the mineral storage shed, the main ventilation fan and housing, and the egress conveyance system and housing.
The Underground Contract
- Preparation of the existing 700 metre adit, including scaling and removal of train tracks and timber supports
- Additional development of more than 1 kilometre
- Construction of underground drill bays
- Testing of appropriate mining techniques
- Removal of a large sample for metallurgical and other testing
